Two of Giles’ recent books
Sin City was commissioned by Carlton Books to accompany a series produced by LWT. Giles had to write the 100,000 word manuscript from a combination of some existing research material and a great deal of secondary research. He had just 11 weeks to accomplish this. The book has been well received as a “rollicking social history” of London.
Sainsbury’s The Record Years was much harder in many respects, involving many meetings with Lord Sainsbury and his editorial team who were very demanding about accuracy and emphasis – although the voice of the book was Giles’ as was the interpretation of the story of a fascinating period in British retail history. |
